In an attempt to understand the basics of DNA and the traits it carries, Research and design students tested their ability to taste bitterness by using PTC paper. Only students who have the PTC gene can taste the bitterness of the paper or even certain vegetables like Collard greens, turnip greens, and Kale. R&D students verified the results of the PTC paper by then using PCR, Enzymatic, and Electrophoresis techniques to Amplify, Isolate, and map their DNA!

Mrs. McCoy's IPC classes made solar ovens and are testing their capabilities today.
The Blazin' Blue Brahma Band completed their competition season this year at the District Concert and Sight Reading contest.
They received 2nd division, excellent ratings across the board in the concert portion. Each judge had lots of great things to say about our group!
In sight reading, they earned first division, superior ratings from all three judges!

The Pewitt CISD School Board voted at their last regular meeting to modify the 2023-24 Academic Calendar. The attached calendar reflects the move of Spring Break to MARCH 11 - 15, 2024, one week earlier than previously scheduled.
